Biking

So I’ve shared with you all my love of running, but now I must share my new “exercise” love, bike riding. I use exercise loosely because it is still very much a challenge for me and I really do use it as a workout. However, I’m sure others would laugh at me for considering a leisurely bike ride in Central Park a real workout, but let me see you ride up Harlem Hill…mmmhmmm.

Truth be told, I was beyond petrified of biking and especially biking in NYC! But our dear friends, Nick and Yanessa, told us about Humana’s free bike rentals, so we were on it! We got a free pedometer and everything! (I don’t even know where I put that thing) Side not: up until this point, I had not ridden a bike since my Sr. trip abroad back in 2005 when we rented bikes and rode around Amsterdam (good times but scary as hell). And before that I’m sure I was in elementary school. Moral of the story, I guess the phrase “its like riding a bike,” is kind of true. It all just came back to me, and I actually enjoyed myself.

And we’re off… And I couldn’t resist posting this image Nick’s awesome backpack! He is going to kill me for this didn’t even want to take it off all day!

Nick and Yanessa…Aren’t they so cute :)

That’s me… overcoming my fears and holding on for dear life!

Trent loves my little Stubbies

We got a good laugh out of this pic…. Trent was doing his best Bill Cunningham. Meanwhile, we were giving him a hard time because we told him his attempt at shooting backwards and said he was shooting the trees. Well, I guess we were wrong. You got us Trent!

Another side note: Trent has wanted bikes since we lived in Baton Rouge, LA. He thought it would be fun to ride around the lakes on Campus (I, not so much). And when we moved up here, we discovered that our apt has a bike room in the basement, so Trent really wanted to get bikes. Again, my fear got the best of me and I never let him get bikes. But after our successful day of biking, I crumbled agreed that we should get bikes. After extensive research and picking the brains of some fellow biking friends, we decided on this style. (I got the green of course! And Trent got the cream) We’ve had a lot of fun the last two week with our bikes.

I got this sweet helmet so I can ride safely on the streets!

xoxo,

Dara
