Balancing Act

This week, I’ve stepped up my game; I started running in Central Park at the crack of dawn, 5:30 a.m. to be exact! That’s early, people! I’m not crazy, I swear! I felt so accomplished after finishing the run, and it was quite lovely seeing all the runners and cyclists out and about in the park with the sunrise over the city in the backdrop.

I’ve always enjoyed early morning workouts, it’s just that time between when my alarm goes off to when I’m actually stepping out of the apartment that isn’t so grand. Do you know the feeling? I’ve talked myself out of getting up a million times, and though I enjoy the much needed sleep, I always hate myself after the fact. So rather than take that extra hour of sleep I want, I get up, put on my clothes and out the door I go, because when I’m done, the reward is so much greater than that hour of sleep.

I’m still trying to find that balance between working, running Preston & Olivia, being a loving and supportive wife, while trying to have a healthy and active lifestyle.  Aside from morning runs and hot yoga, I recently started another running session through Jack Rabbit Sports. This time, Trent and I moved up to Level II, and we are loving it. I’ve learned the key to maintaining the balance is planning a schedule that works for my life, but if I can’t make a class or workout, it’s not the end of the world.  Keep in mind that there’s always time to jump back on track and make up for missed time, don’t let one bad day throw you off.

I hope you are taking time for you, because you deserve it!
